CEO's Vision: Leading by Example 

For Sergio Martinez, Founder & CEO of VEscape Labs, his journey in tech began in Mexico and has taken him around the world, from France to the Americas, Asia, and Europe. This diverse experience has taught him the value of varied perspectives. Therefore, when he founded VEscape Labs, his goal was to create a culture where diverse backgrounds are not just welcomed but celebrated. 

For Sergio, navigating different industries and cultures presented challenges, especially with language barriers and cultural nuances. It was like learning a new sport—initially tough, but with persistence, Sergio honed his skills and adapted.  

 What challenges have you faced in the tech industry, and how have you overcome them? 

“The biggest challenge was bridging communication differences. Clear expectations and well-defined deadlines became essential.” - Sergio Martinez

As the CEO of VEscape Labs, Sergio Martinez champions the power of diversity, encouraging his team to leverage their unique backgrounds in client interactions, and fostering an inclusive work environment. He believes this diversity fuels innovation and actively supports team members as they build confidence to fully embrace their individuality. 

Embracing Diversity in LATAM: Insights from Our Team 

Ruben Barrientos, Senior Developer: 

Ruben Barrientos, a 30-year-old with a bachelor's degree in mechatronic engineering, has been coding since he was 17. Starting with C#, he has worked on various projects ranging from simple databases and scripts to programming large robots. His career began as a PLC programmer, but he later discovered a passion for web development and has since been striving to become a full stack developer. 

What do you appreciate most about working with VEscape? 

“At VEscape Labs, I've always felt valued for my unique perspective. Our team in Mexico is diverse, and this diversity is one of our greatest strengths. What I enjoy the most about working at VEscape is having the opportunity to see and learn from complex but practical code implementations and applications, which for me is amazing. I could say that my knowledge has jumped from a 2 to an 8 by working with VEscape clients, and I’m very grateful.”  - Ruben Barrientos

Paulo Robles, Technical Director: 

With over 23 years of experience in the tech industry, Paulo Robles has journeyed from Networks to Release Engineering, and then to DevOps and Cloud Management. At VEscape Labs, he leads a team dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for their clients. 

What advice would you give to Latinos aspiring to enter and thrive in the tech industry? 

“To Latinos and Latinas aspiring to enter and thrive in the tech industry, I advise embracing continuous learning, developing strong communication skills, leveraging your unique perspective, building a strong network, and seeking mentorship. These steps are essential for career growth and success.” - Paulo Robles

Paulo Robles

Paulo has 22 years of experience in IT, working in different outsourced services. He spent the last 11 years working on digital transformation enabling DevOps services, cloud management, and configuration management. Paulo has hands-on experience building end-to-end cloud strategies, as well as designing, implementing, managing and optimizing cloud-native applications. At VEscape Labs, Paulo is passionate about enabling clients to reach strategic goals thru cloud technologies, best practices, and automation.
